Dear Diary,

Ok Ok... I am well aware that it has been more than "the week gone by".  I cannot help it!  I am such a busy boy juggling between maintaining my social activities and that little bit of work... you know, that acting thing.

OR.

I should [un]consider firing that ghostwriter of mine.

What a fun and exciting day I had today!
Good riddance, Mr Antibiotics!

First and foremost, and most importantly,

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHOUT HOORAH THAT MY ANTIBIOTICS FEEDING IS FINALLY OVER!

Bring out the milk.
Bring out the toys.

Time to throw a celebration!

And celebrate, I did!

Rock and roll time with my pals.
And yes, TGIF too!

That Acting Thing

So erm... yeah.  I was sort of busy with that acting thing again.

Just one episode.
Three days of work.
Oodles of fun.

I am such a lucky boy to be selected again for the role by Director Lye Lin.

Director Lye Lin and me!
"Thank you for choosing me... AGAIN!"
xxoo Flapper

This is our third show together.  First being "Sudden" in 2013, followed by "Mystic Whispers" in 2014 and now, "Love?" a.k.a. 限量爱情.

With three TV shows under my invisible belt, surely it's clear that I enjoy with her.  Our projects are always interesting.  The storylines may not be too 'popular' by mainstream context but there is always some meaningful morals behind the shows she works on.

So when we received the text from Lye Lin, we knew this new show had to be something interesting and meaningful again.

Actually, my first response was, "Seriously?  You want to work with me... again?".

There's that oooolllddddd saying in film industry, "Never work with children or animals".

And here's this very brave director who has chosen to work with blonde me, this blonde dog who is otherwise also known as an animal, THREE times!

I.am.amazed.

This also means, with each show that we work on together, she does increase the difficulty of shots for me!

No.
Not the choice of movements or tricks I need to execute.
But the camera angle and placement!

*guffaw*

And with each challenging shot/camera placement that caused mummy to break out in beads of perspiration, we can hear somewhere in the background, "I know Flapper can do it!"

Mummy stress.
I give mummy cute smile.

*guffaw again*

Jokes aside, I have to really give huge thanks to Lye Lin for choosing me again and for being so so so nice to me all the time.

Also, thank you for always taking the time to let us know in advance what the scenes we will be shooting [in English] and your openness to ideas and suggestions.

I love working with you.

Blessed. I am.

When I first found out who my on-screen "mummy" would be, I was mighty happy and excited!

I FINALLY got to meet and work with the gorgeous and charming Rebecca Lim again!

Lovely to be filming alogside the gorgeous and charming Rebecca Lim again!
2013: On the set of "Sudden"
2015: On the set of "Love?"

Our last quick encounter was on set of "Sudden".  We had only two scenes together and my character then was supposed to ignore her.... which I did!

Sad.

Then we were supposed to be filming "Mystic Whispers" together but.....

Sad again.

But better late than never.

"Love?" is and was meant to be.

It was truly an honour to know this wonderful lady.

Rebecca has such an awesome personality.  She is friendly and genuine.  No diva air about her.  She is fun, spontaneous... and a good laugh to be around with.  She is not squirmish and all-girly when we had to do THAT scene (read below).  A fantastic sport!

I love her generous hugs, her "paparazzi" ways whilst I'm filming... and guys, don't be jealous... but I do go home wearing the smell of her perfume.

My Favourite Moments with Rebecca Lim

Day 1: We finally got a chance to take a pic together!
Day 1: Woohoo!  Selfie time!
Day 1:  It was a very long day of shoot and yikes!  I got caught sleeping
the gorgeous star!
Day 2: Between takes....
Day 2: Me-time with Rebecca... and her many funny faces.
Super love!
Day 3: Posing for May Seah of TODAY.
Day 3: Rebecca caught in her "paparazzi" action!  LOL!
(photo credit: May Seah of TODAY)

I am but a boy.

How can I not love Rebecca?

Then I found out who my on-screen "daddy" would be.

It was NOT Romeo Tan.
It was....
Tay Ping Hui.

I must admit it was a bit of a gulp moment.
Not that I think Tay Ping Hui is a big bad wolf or anything.
It is always that tad bit daunting when it is someone unfamiliar...

And this someone happens to be a strappy, six-foot-one tall dude whom I'm suppose to "take" his hand in one scene.

"Ahhhhhhh.... no!", mummy screamed.

Beads of perspiration started rolling down her head again.

I could not give two hoots.

I just slept while mummy was frantically texting Lye Lin the improbability of achieving that shot.

Despite mummy training me for that particular scene, she was far from confident about the actual execution.

Then the bomb came on the actual day of shoot.
Changes and camera angle.
THE most challenging scene.

And that was the first time I heard it... "I know Flapper can do it."

Well, you will have to watch the show to find out if I actually did it.

So yes, strappy six-foot-one dude turned out a-ok.

He is definitely very confident in his approach towards dogs... bordering towards military-like sometimes - the voice!  LOL.

But he has very good body language which makes it very easy for us, dogs, to read him.

He was also very patient and THANK GOODNESS, not squirmy about THAT scene.  He took it on like a real sport and even tried helping me out with THAT scene.

It was a relief, really.
I could not be luckier to work alongside with him.

Then strappy six-foot-one dude had his "awwwww" moment when I pulled some moves and tricks.....  lost a bit of macho credibility there!

Just kidding!

So yes, I am that blessed blonde boy that got it good with my new on-screen" daddy.

This change... ain't too bad after all.

Day 2: Tay Ping Hui patiently (and professionally) working with me.
Uncredited photo... because I cannot remember who sent it to me! :/
Day 2: Our first "family" shot together.
Day 3: OK... This is not part of the show.... Just Mr Tay trying to prove
he can execute this trick better than Miss Lim!  *guffaw*
Day 3: Last day of shoot for me (not for the humans).
Goofin' around with some wefies.
Day 3: Seriously guys?  Trying to pant like me?
Day 4: And that's what I call a wefie!

"Not Just A Celebrity Dog"
TODAY
Sep 16 2014

On the last day of shoot, I was told a reporter from TODAY will be coming down on set.

I secretly hoped it would be the lovely May Seah.

I had a blast spending the morning with her last September when she did a great write-up about me and interviewed me for "Mystic Whispers".

The hilarious interview video:

And who did I see walking through the door?
Yep!  May Seah herself!

Our running joke:
When I first met her in Sep 2014, I licked her armpit.
Now when we meet again, I up-skirt her!

It was fantabulous meeting her again.

And while she and mummy were busy chatting away, she indulged me in belly-rubs.

How can I not love her... too?

Not-so-fresh out of the press
"Give that dog a bone"
TODAY, 27 Jan 2015

"Love?" premieres on 24th February 2015, 9 pm on Channel U.
I think there are six episodes to the show.  Each episode features an individual story so that's interesting.  Clearly, each story has something to do with love and relationships....

Sorry guys, I really have no idea the storyline behind each episode!

Me thinks.... I am in the last episode.

Please do watch to support the show... and me!  :P

Last one for the road... me with my "filming family" of three days.

Last but not least, to end of this super long entry, I would like to say that this acting thing is NOT about the fame and fortune.

I accidentally and surprisingly rose to a modest fame after "Sudden" and fortune... well, truth be told there's no fortune in being a 'canine actor'.

If you think about it, I average one show per year.
I do not get commercial deals.
So fortune, sounds good but no.

To put that hell-annoying frequently asked question out of the way....
YES.
I do get paid for 'acting'.

Do I get paid a lot?
No.

I quote, "Work to earn or work to learn".

There's a bit of the former but more of the latter.

You see, this acting thing is really just fun projects I do with mummy.  It is OUR time to be together, OUR bonding time, OUR fun time and whatever we do in life, is just for the experience.

"It is not about me as a "superstar" but it is about the creating memories, making our life moments count with no regrets."

This is really what this acting thing is all about.

MANY people have asked, "What about Frodo?"

And here is mummy's reply, "You must remember that the priority is the dogs/cats as PETS.  If I had gotten Frodo intending for him to do EXACTLY what Flapper has achieved so far, then I am keeping him for the wrong reasons.  If Frodo shows talent in this area, sure I'll let him do it.  But if he doesn't, it's okay.  Him as a pet FIRST."

Remember, when the lights go down, I am but a very ordinary blonde dog who indulges in my regular activities - swimming, fetching the ball, rolling myself in mud, sand, grass... going for walks, letting my siblings annoy me.  LOL.

I am but a pet first.

It just so happened I found that acting thing along the way and I love it.

I am... Flapper the dog.

And that's that.

Dear Diary,
My trademark Monday
swimming goofy pose.

OMG!  It's Monday again!

Where has all the time gone to?  *gasp*

And how do I know it's Monday again?

It's time for my favourite activity once again called SWIMMING.

Woohoo!

Swim and ball.
Life couldn't be bette

The week gone by...

What a busy week I've had!

So as you might have read from my previous post, Frodo and I started the week out with our glorious swim at the beach.

But most of all, I was preparing for my new acting role = more training fun time with mummy.

And I looovvveeeee learning new things with mummy!

Did you know....
I get so excited in training I can become a bit of a crybaby?

Maybe one day I will post the video up.

For those who are wondering, NOT that I am being tortured... but mummy uses the clicker so this means, I need to crack my rocket scientist brain to figure out what will get me THAT click.

And some times, I get sooooo excited (nicer way of saying "impatient"), I will whine at mummy to tell her, "quick give me that click!"

It is super duper fun... this clicker training thing.

Frodo, Pebbles, Fluffy and Frappe are all clicker-trained too!

So... the moment mummy gets the clicker and her treat pouch, all five of us promptly report to her expectantly.

20-Jan-2015, Tuesday

I never finished my entry yesterday.

Woohoo!  Yumz from Barkery.
My friends from Barkery came for a visit and as usual, the humans started chatting and chatting... whilst I shamelessly ask for belly rub.

Frodo, that traitor, was still out gallivanting with grandpa.

Running joke:
Frodo's love-date with grandpa is getting later and later... the humans are coming home earlier than him.

Need I say more?

Seriously, that's a lot of yumz for us.
After some serious discussion, we agreed we should share with our
friends/playdates.

We have been very lucky to have found a nice doggie playschool (that mummy's good friend owns) for us to hang out for a couple of hours with the other doggies in a nice controlled environment.
Me and my little chilli padi
girlfriend, Maggie.

And of course, nice socialised doggies too.
That is... very very very important.

We always have a blast when we are there.

First, I get to meet my old-time friend named Maggie.  Maggie is a chilli padi.  Don't see her one tiny black thing but she's got character.  AND!  She is absolutely devoted to mummy.

Like seriously devoted to mummy.  *woof!*

Scenes from last week's playdate

Group shot time.
It's never easy to get everyone into the shot
(as you can see, Frodo is missing from this shot and well, a few others too!)
Chillin' out with my pals

Found a new BFF (Best Furry Friend) named Winston.
One last one for the road...
Frodo, Pebbles and me with Maggie.

Scenes from today's playdate and the power of "Bark Kwa"

With that powerful treat called "Bark Kwa", we managed some pretty
awesome group shots today!
From left: Jessie, Eeyore, Maggie, Gummy, Me, Pebbles, Frodo

And here's another group shot of us flashing cute smiles, well,
except those 2 little black ones at front. Tsk! Tsk!
From left: Moo, Me, Gummy and Eeyore
Front: Pebbles and Maggie

This had to be added just because we think it's cute.
Can you name all of use already?
P.S. Gummy!  The Bark Kwa will get to you soon.  Be patient!

Here's one of me with Eeyore.
Cute huh?

How can we miss this out?
Frodo with his BFF, Gummy!

Just because... we love labs and we cannot resist of a shot with
all 3 labs together!  Should be Frodo in this shot since he is the pure
lab.  But what the heck!  Too cute not to show!
From left: Gummy, Jessie... and Me!

So yes guys, now you know the power of Bark Kwa.

With Bark Kwa, we get decent group shots.

*guffaw*

Bark Kwa jokes aside, many thanks once again to Barkery for giving us all that yummilicious treats that we could share with our pals!

We (Frodo, Pebbles and I) would also like to give big thanks to Mummy's good friend for opening up her playschool gates to us and allowing us to have fun with all the wonderful doggies there.

Okay okay, and we must also thank mummy for bringing us for all these fun activities and maintaining our social life.

We are really such lucky doggies.
Truly we are.

I must sign off now as it's just about meal time!

Will tell you more of my/our doggie adventures later!

Super happy, I am!

Dear Diary,

It's Monday!

My favourite day of the week!

You see, there's always some form of excursion on Monday and today, we got to go to that magnificent place called THE BEACH!  It's a love-hate for mummy with the beach.

Great start to the day.
Our favourite place in the whole wide world!

Love - It's open.  It's spacious.  Frodo and I get to swim a lot more than a swimming pool.

Hate - I have this favourite hobby called 'rubbing myself silly on the sand'.  This means... the house will be very very sandy for the next 3 days.

It's a human-dilemma, I tell ya!

But mummy will cave in at some point and bring us to the beach.... now and again.

We... the doggies... always win.

My favourite hobby!
My middle name is "Sandy"
[photo credit: Furry Photos Pet Photography]

Monday is also family day with grandma, grandpa and that grumpy old brother of mine, Dumbo.

I don't get the humans.

They take the same photo every other day and never seem to get bored with it.   Mummy says it's because Dumbo and I are getting older so every moments count.

We're not complaining.

All we need to do is sit in front of the same wall, look at mummy for a while (sometimes a long while) and viola!  Food dispensing machine activated.

Pose for the camera?
Anytime!

(P.S. Frodo is still out gallavanting with grandpa as I'm typing right now... TRAITOR!)

"We don't get the humans.  Same pose, same wall, same place... EVERYTIME."

Filming is starting again in a few days time.
A short project this time.
One episode in an upcoming Channel 8 drama.

Mummy and I are very blessed to be working alongside an understanding, patient and detailed director... and that she always chooses me when there's a canine role available!  How lucky am I?

She also makes sure she provides us with the scenes beforehand and is always open to discussion.  She knows me well now so it makes things ALOT easier.

This will be our third project with her and we are so looking forward to it!

In the meantime, I need to prep for my new role....

Can you guess what mummy is teaching me?

What a busy day!

But I love it.

Dear Diary,

This 'lil website of mine is finally up and running!  Phew!

What can I say?

I made a resolution to have my own little blog-diary-website just because I think it can be fun.  BUT the mere thought of starting/designing and thereafter maintaining the website, made this idea seem quite daunting.  Maintaining my social media sites is... fun!  But quite hard work too.  And now to add a blog/website to the list?

Eeeeee-yikes!

After some ding-dong-ing around indecisively with mummy for some time  on to-do or not-to-do, we decided, "What the heck!  To-do we shall!"

After all, the work is actually done by the human mastermind.  So is the writing.  But let's all just pretend that I, Flapper Choo, am actually a canine genius who is fully capable of doing my own writing.

So with that, it was time to decide on THE NAME.

I think it's that Libra thing about indecisions but even THE NAME for the website was another ding-a-ling-a-dong session with mummy.  Put two Libra together and that could take... forever.

OK.
Something simple.
Something straightforward.
Something that would depict it's about, well, me.

"Life of Flapper"....
Guess that could work.

Time to register for the website.

La-di-da....
Domain name.
Hmmm... one paw at the time.

Type.

"Domain name is available"

Yay!

La-di-da....
Fill in the rest of the details.

Realisation hit home.

How did my website become "Flapper The Dog"?

*gasp*

Too late.
Payment made.
Registration done.

My website is now officially www.flapperthedog.com

Dear Diary,

Mummy (the human one) says I'm an old man now BUT I'm only 8 years-ish young.   Such audacity to call me 'old man'.  Hmph!

"Sorry Flapper, the whites on your face don't lie.", so mummy says.

Anywoof, as part of my new year's resolution, I have decided to start my own little diary but first thing first, I need to get into my role as a writer.

What do you think?

Do I look the part?
