After testing and playing the Outward Hound Paw Hide puzzle toy, Frodo and I knew exactly the next toy we wanted to test.

Yet another Outward Hound puzzle toy.
It is called Tic Tac Twirl.

The idea of a "tic-tac-toe"toy appealed to us. How cute is that? And in what seems to be Outward Hound's corporate green colour for dog toys with bold colour blocking, the Tic Tac Twirl puzzle toy is no exception. And we love toys that spit treats out!

We bugged mummy to let us test the Outward Hound Tic Tac Twirl puzzle toy now. Like NOW. Pronto!

Frodo and I secretly sniggered behind mummy's back. We knew, in terms of difficulty, this would be an easy-peasy puzzle toy. Easy-peasy that spits treats is even better. Quick access to get food into our stomachs.

Note from mummy:
I would recommend for dog owners to have puzzle toys of different difficulty levels. Dogs learn well with success so the easy-to-win games keep them interested and motivated for the more difficult ones. This will be proven in the boys' final toy review - the Nina Ottosson Dog Finder Interactive Toy  The key idea is that the dogs know that they WILL get the treats - a matter of how.

Back to Flapper and Frodo.

Thank you mummy for that blah.

The concept of the game is really REALLY simple. No rocket scientist game as explained below.

via GIPHY

Easy, right?

So we, the dogs, can either use our nose or paw to push that twirling-flap-that-does-not-really-twirl. As shown above, the flap (no pun intended) stays vertical so not all the treats get thrown out. In our colourful imagination, we visualized twirling flaps and flying treats.

But in reality.... when "played right" and the treats do get dispensed....

via GIPHY

As seen above, I was actually trying to eat direct from the treats container then by fluke I got the 'jackpot'.

No twirling flaps and flying treats.

Frodo and I decided unanimously that eating straight (free food!) from the treat container was the way to go.

No jackpot needed.

via GIPHY

Me thinks.... the humans were more disappointed with the toy than Frodo and I were. We are true-blonde foodies so the easier the access to the food, the happier we are!

Difficulty Level
Flapper: Easy peasy. Just eat direct.

Frodo: Put more treats in... please?

Design
Flapper: Pretty and interesting concept but the not much twirling and flying treats. Disappointed (so mummy says).
Frodo: I do not need to think much! That's good... no?

Is It Worth The Price?

It is clear that mummy is not keen on this toy and it's much-a-twirl-about-nothing. As per our review of the Outward Hound Paw Hide Puzzle Toy, we are happy with the toy quality. However, based on the lacklustre fun factor of the Outward Hound Tic Tac Twirl Puzzle Toy, I would not be inclined to purchase this toy at SGD33.90.

The toy failed to deliver. Period.

I would rather save that money and get meself a Outward Hound Daypak! *Hint hint Miss U from Kohepets. My birthday is comming soon....*

I spy with my shopping eyes and I see a cool daypak!

Okay... the large one costs SGD65. I don't think mummy will break my doggie-bank anytime soon.

Oops! Sorry! My roving eyes got distracted. So back to the toy....

Flapper: Well, I think the money can be put to better use. Some other toy perhaps... or daypak doggie fund. *guffaw*
Frodo: Because Flapper says so.....

When All Else Fails.....

After the disappointing result of the Outward Hound Tic Tac Twirl puzzle toy test, Uncle Nic and mummy decided... when all else fails, might as well "up" the value of the game a little. They decided to use four different treats, let us sniff first and see which treat we would go for first.

Sorry guys! Mummy lost Frodo's video footage of this test!

And that was about as exciting as our testing with this toy got. Disappointing, it was.

This is perhaps my shortest review ever but a dog (or two) got to be honest, right?

This toy is, really, much-a-twirl-about-nothing.

When we first received our package of goodies toys from Kohepets pet shop Singapore, mummy asked Frodo and I which toy would we like to test first. We unanimously agreed on the Outward Hound Paw Hide puzzle toy.

Which dog can resist the brightly-coloured toy that is in the shape of the paw?

Frodo and I are fans of interactive/puzzle toys. We already have a couple of Nina Ottosson toys from many years back. So when Miss U from Kohepets asked if Frodo and I would like to try some interactive, we gave her a resounding "Woof!".

Bring on the interactive toys!

Frodo and I happily posing with our loot of interactive toys.. except one (Hint: See Frodo's eye line....)

How Paw Hide Puzzle Toy Works

I must confess.

Such games are not novel for Frodo and I. Mummy has been playing similar-type games with us for many years. It does burn some brain juice to figure out how to get the treats. Brain juice power required depends on difficulty level of the toy/game.

And of course, greedy and motivated dogs are essential for the games too.

Note: DO NOT be ambitious and start with toys of high-level difficulty especially if the dog is unfamiliar with such games. If the dog does not get it, it will lose interest as quickly as you plonk in the treats. Know thy dog.

The Outward Hound Paw Hide puzzle toy is very straightforward... as illustrated below.

Nothing complicated. A matter of holes and cups.... and treats.
So yeah, intermediate level difficulty, pretty colours and paw-shaped... what's not to like about Paw Hide?

Of Plastic, Slobbers and Low-Grip Height

It did not take long during our first attempt to mouth our way to the treats did Frodo and I realise that, as attractive as the design of Paw Hide looks, there is a tad bit of design glitch for big dogs. The struggles were real and we shall explain it NOW.

First, the toy is made of plastic but credit to Outward Hound, it ain't some cheap flimsy plastic. Respect for the plastic quality. That we cannot complain. HOWEVER, because it is made of plastic so the cups get very slobbered very easily. One mouth in and it is slobbered.

Slobbered = Slippery.
Slippery = Difficult to grip.

Not only does the slobbered make it difficult grip but the LOW-GRIP HEIGHT makes it even more challenging for big dogs. Have you seen the size our mouth and teeth?

Cups height explained. This game is possibly best for small to medium sized dogs. The cups may just be a tad bit too big for the toy breeds/minis but guess what? Outward Hound has a Paw Hide MINI version (scroll all the way down to see)! How considerate!
The size of our mouth and teeth as demonstrated by Frodo Choo
So there you go!

The design is attractive but it may not have been well thought out for all-sizes of dogs.

In addition, like all other interactive toys as such, it is a skating affair for big dogs. We can start from one end of the room and end up... somewhere else. Even though non-slip bits are added at the bottom of the toy, it is not enough to secure the toy to the floor.

The thoughtful non-slip bits at the bottom of the toy that does not make much difference.
There's a quick-cheat to the treats too. Paw the toy real hard and flip the toy. And ta-dah! Treats galore! Aye aye! The quick-cheats that mummy never lets us get away with. *guffaw*

As mentioned, the skating toy and quick-cheat option are common problems with most interactive toys. Most unforgiving with big dogs just because it does not take us a lot of effort to flip the toys. DO NOT even think about putting on the coffee table. All the more we will ensure the toy makes it off the table!

But When We Finally Mastered The Art of Opening Paws....

It took Frodo and I a while to learn that impatience and 'violence' were not going to get us to open sesame the cups. After couple of attempts, both of us finally mastered the art of gripping the cups with inescapable slippage with our big slobbery mouth.

Watch the video below of Frodo and me conquering the toy!

So yeah! Once Frodo and I mastered the art of those oh-so-tricky cups, we had a blast playing with it. Our kind of toy, our kind of game.

The fabulous part of these sniff-and-find interactive/puzzle games is that the level of difficulty can be "upped" by mixing things up - i.e. using different value of treats, only hide treats in certain cups, turn the cup upside down.... or if you dog is a bit like me, it can also attempt to put the cup back and hope that new treats magically appear!

It is also a good toy to conduct certain "IQ" tests on dogs - do we use our nose first or paw first? Are we able to distinguish the different values of treat through smelling? Are we reliant on visual cues from the human? Will we open up all the cups anyway even though some may be empty?

Stuff like that.

Stretch your imagination and have fun!

The Other Plastic Called $$$$

Oops! Kohepets is out of stock now on the toy... click on image to view product.
And oh look! There's a MINI version for smaller dogs. Good job Outward Hound! Click on image to view product.

Compared to those wooden Nina Ottosson toys that mummy used to buy for us, the Outward Hound plastic toys are much cheaper.

FUN FACT: Outward Hound (The Riverside Company) acquired Nina Ottosson puzzle games and toys in 2015. So they are both under the same company now! Woof!

Anywoof, for SGD37.00 (and SGD24.90 for ‘Outward Hound Paw Hide Mini Puzzle Dog Toy), I would say the price is not bad at all. Outward Hound Paw Hide puzzle toy is of easy to moderate difficulty which makes it more play-friendly for dogs. The plastic used is of decent quality too so overall, I would say reasonably priced and value-for-money.

But like most puzzle toys, once the dog figures out how it works, it can get a tad bit of a 'yawn' - more the owner(s) than dog(s). The initial excitement of seeing how the paws fare will wane but we, the dogs. ain't complaining as long as you keep topping up the treats!

Flapper and Frodo Rates Paw Hide

DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Flapper: Easy peasy! Would you like me to put the cups back for you?

Frodo: And mummy/daddy calls me stupid....

DESIGN AND QUALITY

Flapper: Love the colours, love that it is paw-shaped, good quality plastic used.... but points off for grip height and how slippery the cups become after one mouth on it.

Frodo: Can the cups stop slipping out of my mouth and let me grip it already?

FUN FACTOR
Flapper: Yep! Pretty fun overall... and QUITE versatile too.

Frodo: If I, Frodo Choo, can get it, fun it is!

I wonder which puzzle toy we are reviewing next.....

21st June 2018

I heard that familiar 'biong' on my phone. Uncle D from Silversky messaged me to inform that Wellness Core has new five products. My blonde eyelashes fluttered as I saw that golden word - SENIOR.

Finally! Wellness Pet Food has come up with senior formula and boy oh boy was I excited. Okay okay. I am in the over-the-hill 'geriatric' category. At [almost] 12 years old, I have pawed past the 'senior' mark. My dear brother, Frodo Choo, is still in the safe zone of senior.

Can you believe that even Frodo is a senior already? But his brains still remain at.... junior.

Post THAT fishy case of Wellness Pet Food, Frodo and I were maintaining on Wellness Complete Health Grain Free Deboned Chicken and Chicken Meal. As I am writing this post, I am happy to announce that this is my 10th year anniversary on Wellness Pet Food!

And it is Frodo's 7th year with Wellness....

via GIPHY

2nd July 2018

SOS!
Food replenishment required!

I messaged Uncle D and asked him if we could try the brand spanking new Wellness Core Senior Dog formula. I was excited to see what is this new Senior formula all about and if there are any obvious difference to the regular adult/maintenance diets and truth be told, I did not even bother to go read up on it - yet. In due time I will... like now.

And I got a YES!

On this note, I must once again give ample thanks to Silversky for supporting us in our sporadic changes of Wellness formulas even my ghostwriter has been so preoccupied with her problematic knee rehabilitation that I had [sort of] MIA-ed (missing in action) for just about 4-5 months.

Yes.

My ghostwriter does all the hard work of putting together my articles while Frodo and I... simply enjoy and devour our new senior food.

via GIPHY

The Core Differences

After receiving my first bag on Wellness Core Senior formula, I excitedly whipped out my glasses to see what is so special about the senior diet and if there are any significant differences between the 'regular' diet and 'senior diet'.

After having a quick look at the ingredients on the Senior bag, I realized there was no significant difference between Core Original and Core Senior. The main protein for both is Turkey and i-sob! The senior diet is missing one of my favourite ingredients of all time - chicken liver. But the senior diet contains lentils and chickpeas which are known to have health benefits.

Oh well.
Bye bye chicken liver.
Hello lentils and chickpeas.

Highlighting the key 'goodie' ingredients before looking at the other what-I-call blahs - the added supplements. Clearly there are no significant ingredient differences between the regular and senior diet. And both contain turkey as the core protein.

Now that we have established that there is no big difference in the ingredients, next thing to look at is the oh-so-important guaranteed analysis between both food. Based on American Kennel Club's (AKC) article on 'how to feed senior dogs', it can be roughly summarized as:

  • Less caloric intake (20% lower)
  • Less fat content
  • Increased protein (highly-digestible protein)
  • No increase of fibre intake required though cellulose fibre is recommended.
A side-by-side comparison of the 'Senior' diet versus the 'Adult' diet

The differences between both diets are marginal but yes, the senior food is lower in fat, higher in fibre (as commonly found in senior diets), lower in protein, and calorie content (15% lower) too. A slight variant from the recommendation but nothing alarmingly off the charts or different from its regular diet either.

In a glance, the numbers do look negligible and it left me pondering what is the actual nutrient profile for senior dogs? So I decided to snoop at the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) website to see if I could pull out any numbers for comparison. Perhaps I am not very savvy with their website but I just could not find any information on nutritional profile. But as I snooped further, I realized one very important thing - 'Senior' is not part of the AAFCO nutrient profile! *gasp*

Dog food advisor has done a good summary of what the AAFCO Dog Nutrient Profile is about (with no numbers provided) so I encourage you to read it.

But of course, silly me!

I should have read the AAFCO statement on the bag from the beginning of time! But I ain't gonna kill my old man eye sight squinting to read the small print so I went to Wellness Pet Food website to verify what the senior formula statement reads.

I banged my head.

After all this time of researching only to realize that it is a MAINTENANCE profile. Not some magical senior profile. I felt like an absolute idiot! And as of now (11th August 2018), dog food advisor has yet to review the senior formula. But based on how similar it is to the Core Original, I would reckon the rating should be... similar. That's just my guess.

And talking about numbers, Wellness has included a downloadable comprehensive nutrient profile of the Core Original on its website. That is actually really cool. After all this time of trying to find the AAFCO nutrient profile and lo and behold! Wellness shares it openly so we, the consumers, know exactly how Wellness food measures up against AAFCO standard.

It just boosted my confidence in Wellness Pet Food yet again.

Data sheet downloaded from the Wellness website to see how Core Original measures up against AAFCO nutrient profile requirements. Very important information for consumers and I hope they release the data sheet for its senior formula soon!

One very important thing I do have to highlight about the packaging of the senior formula.... I have no idea WHY but it is possibly the only Wellness formula that DOES NOT come with the self-sealing (ziplock) function! Why oh why Wellness Pet Food?

Amazing how a thing like self-sealing function can get marks taken off its otherwise reputable product.

Conclusively, Wellness Core Grain Free Senior Formula is similar to its flagship Wellness Core Grain Free Original tweaked with lower caloric and fat content for senior dogs. I do miss my chicken liver though! I wish Wellness Pet Food had retained that oh-so-yummy chicken liver with added lentils and chickpeas! *guffaw* I am a greedy 12 year old who loves his food.

So... the question is... with marginal difference in both food and senior formula without self-sealing bags, would I still choose to continue on this food?

It is a marginal yes between chicken liver and no chicken liver. I am only kidding. Primarily the minor tweaks are important for a senior dog. And like the Core Original, Frodo and I do love the food very much. Mummy has been complaining that our mealtime drooling has gotten worse.

Surely the state of our classical conditioning with Wellness food tells a story?

Ever happy Wellness boys give 4 out of 5 paws for the senior formula. I may change it to 10 paws up if we get back chicken liver and self-sealing bags. 😏

My curly ears brother officially turned 15 years old on 18th April 2018. Like me, Dumbo was adopted so no, 18th April is not his actual birthday. It was the date he was adopted into the Choo family. He was two years old. He became the 'eldest grandson'. He also became the king of the house.

As some of you may remember, Dumbo gave us a death-scare last May. Since then, there has been many up and down moments with Dumbo. His health disparity was never meant for the weak-hearted - mentally, emotionally and financially.  Mummy mocks his encyclopedic medical bills.  Dumbo probably has a life span of two cats. Mummy always insists he owes her more than nine lives. And she still calls him an a-hole but she means it in an endearing way... of course.

Post the scare, I nudged mummy and reminded her of our planned family photo shoot for and with Dumbo for his 15th birthday.

"Break my doggie-bank and ask Uncle Nic to do the photo shoot. This shall be my gift to everyone.", I told mummy.

Mummy looked at me sadly and said, "I don't know, Flapper.... I really have no idea if it will happen."

Although grumpy old man has triumphed over yet another health calamity but this time, no one was confident if Dumbo would make it for past 15.  He has long-running heart problem and spondylosis. He is also deaf, has partially-impaired vision, slowed down significantly and seemed to be in pain more often than not. On bad days, he could be - having shortness of breath and/or both eyes are unable to open and/or difficulty moving. Something as ridiculous as changing a brand of medicine was enough to cause him to pee blood profusely. Though it is still undetermined if that was the actual cause hematuria but he - once again - recovered from it very quickly.

Need I say more?

Dumbo has truly epitomised the saying of "everyday is a bonus".

21 April 2018
Beauty Is In The EYES Of The Beholder

It was the planned date for our family photo shoot with my dear Uncle Nic (aka Furry Photos). I am an old-fashion boy who believes in the good 'ol fashion art of professional photography for capturing memories. Our last family photo shoot was back in 2014. Grandma thought I was off my rockers in engaging Uncle Nic's service but I was insistent that it would be well-worth it.

Just because.
Dumbo was still at his best.
No regrets.

That was 4 years ago when Dumbo could still perform his repertoire of tricks.

4 years on and a few days before the planned family photo shoot, Dumbo developed a bad case of droopy eyelids and could not open his eyes. Quite a scary sight, I must confess. Grandma and grandpa took him to see the vet and as it turned out, it was something about his tear duct production problem and eye infection as well. Dumbo went home with eye ointment, antibiotic eye drops and eye lubricant.

In the meantime, grandma told mummy to call Uncle Nic to cancel the family photo shoot.

In typical Grumpy Old Man's fashion, his recovery was swift. His eyes started popping open the very next day and by the following day, we could see his big mischievous eyes again.

I asked grandma, "Are you sure you don't want to proceed with the family photo shoot?"

Grandma was adamant that she only wanted memories of Dumbo at his best, at his most handsome state. It was understandable so I did not insist.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Even though the family photo shoot did not happen but we still celebrated Dumbo's birthday with this creative steak platter cake from The Barkery Singapore. You see, Dumbo's key motivation in life is food and there is no better design than a food-themed cake! Dumbo may be deaf and half-blind but his nose is still in good working order. *guffaw*

A view of Dumbo's cake in 3D....

25 April 2018
And The Light Shone In His Glory

Despite the failed family photo shoot, I was determined that Dumbo would still get his outdoor glory moment. Dumbo, in his younger days, loved the great outdoors. Untamed and unruly, his curly ears would fly as he sprinted off to the world of no return with the crazy humans running after him while yelling his name only to have him bolt off even faster. He always loved the outdoors and even now in his debilitating state, he still makes valiant attempt to waddle and appreciate the wind blowing against his curly ears.

Dumbo, in his glory days, would run with no care in the world and leap across fields with his curly ears flying. (Photo taken in 2010)
The few days leading up to this outdoor shoot was met with the dread of rain. I was worried that this outdoor shoot may not even happen because of the rain. I was absolutely determined that Dumbo deserves a glorious sunset photoshoot and prayed hard for good weather.

Praise God for the light shone brightly that very day with clear blue skies!

It was... PERFECT.

Not only did we get perfect sunset, Dumbo was in top form too - which we did not realize how 'top form' he was till we started the outdoor shoot. Mummy had warned Uncle Nic a few times, "We may only have five minutes of action from Dumbo."

Embarrass mummy, Dumbo did.

In a very good way of course!

This curly-ears old man outdid himself and not only did he produce more action than what anyone thought possible but he was even reluctant to go home! Oh Dumbo!

As I scrolled through the photos from Dumbo's photo shoot, I was brimming with happiness and teared as I saw how gorgeous the photos turned out. Praise God again! For this was truly Dumbo's photo shoot in full glory and without doubt, Uncle Nic had captured the best of him.

"Uncle Nic, me thinks you have outdone yourself this time. This is the best set of photos I have seen. I want to do the layout for Dumbo's album... can I?", I asked Uncle Nic.

Uncle Nic agreed.

I knew exactly how I wanted the photo album to look and this is my present for the family. I wanted it to be... perfect.

Indeed, God is good. For all the health scares and gazillion medical condition that Dumbo has, we are so blessed to still have him with us and we managed to celebrate his 15th birthday. And just when we thought the photo shoot might not happen, double blessing of perfect weather with Dumbo in his full glory. In the midst of writing up this post, my dear brother had another episode of blood in pee resulting in slight anaemia... again. And something about his kidneys too....

With Dumbo's health scares, we are indeed blessed to still have him with us and capture his best moments.

And I say again... everyday IS a bonus with Dumbo Choo.

This grumpy old man is a true fighter.

Dumbo, always and will be, my elder brother from different mother and father... united in the name of Choo.

This is a long overdue post.

I have been self-debating for months if I should even rant about this iffy, controversial and touchy topic. After much deliberation, I decided to bite the kibble and say now or forever hold my peace.

I Smell A Fish

It all began in July/August 2017. In the midst of all that hype of WellPet Singapore's 10th year 'birthday', there was a release of a class action lawsuit against WellPet (U.S.) for 'dangerous amount of arsenic and lead'. The dog food in question were its fish-based formulas -
  • Wellness CORE Adult Dry Ocean Whitefish, Herring Meal and Salmon Meal
  • Wellness Complete Health Adult Dry Whitefish and Sweet Potato
And because it is known that my brood is on Wellness Pet Food (the dogs and cats) and more so, Flapper and Frodo are sponsored. So I, Flapper Mummy, received flak for 'trying to kill my pets'. Okay, the peeps did not say outright but it was indicatively so. It was also clear that if I tried to defend the food in any way, it would be perceived as bias or blind-defense or feeble or... whatever superlative that could be thrown my way.

Of course I was a concerned mama. The very catchy headlines of "Lawsuit Against Wellness Dog Food" and 'Wellness Pet Food Contains Undisclosed Arsenic" was misleading enough to believe it was ALL the dog food involved. The first question that popped into my head was, "Did I really trust the wrong brand of food for my pets? Am I really poisoning them?"

I whipped out my Sherlock pipe and magnifying glass to investigate a little more and started to smell a fish (pun intended). The plaintiffs are 'an individual' and the owner of a U.S. based dog daycare business. I could not fathom in my naive head why two individuals would spend all that money to send the food out for testing in the first place. Are really that righteous over... dog food? If they were all that concern about these metal levels, sense and sensibility would have dictated them to stay away from the fish/seafood based diets for their dogs, no?

Then again, they are from another part of the world where any reason could be a reason for a legal suit. In addition, should they win the case, they would earn back the testing and legal costs... and possibly even more. So okay, lawsuit makes financial sense.

Then I went to snoop into that 'doctor' whose article was flashing on Facebook. In fact, that was the first article I read and of course it caused me a shock-wave of emotions. Surely the doctor tells the truth. Holy crap! I am killin' my pets!

I decided to re-read what was written after seeking free consultation from Dr Google and lo and behold! What I had blindly missed on first read was it was a non-informative article with no scientific inputs (at all) but only to end with Wellness' tagline (go figure). I realised it was... erm... can I say 'cut-and-paste' like article. I got really suspicious and started surfing the website a little more. There is no history of her credentials except its tagline of being holistic. The posts are about as scientific as my stories. No idea where this doctor is from. This doctor does phone consultations. And 'shockingly', there is an online supplement shop. Hmmm....

Freeze The Pockets!

I moved on.
Clean Label Project™ uses data and science to reveal the true contents of America’s best-selling consumer products. Products are tested in an accredited analytical chemistry laboratory for 130 harmful environmental and industrial contaminants and toxins. Results are published as Product Ratings.
I discovered this exciting website called 'Clean Label Project' (CLP) which, as the above quotes read, test products for contaminants and toxins. I had to see where Wellness Pet Food was sitting at! CLP has modified their ratings system since I last went in to snoop last August. It was, then, only focussed on contaminants rating but I cannot even remember specifically which category. So during that time, Wellness Pet Food had overall, for lack of better word, dismal rating.

Note: The ratings have changed since as they include a wider range of contaminant rating and nutritional superiority. So where Wellness sits now is overall good rating on 'heavy metal contaminant', 'process contaminant' and 'nutrition superiority' but its 'byproduct contaminant' is badly rated.

However, what was (and still is) topping the charts (best food with least contaminants) were those freeze-dried and raw dehydrated food. And since I was on Sherlock mode, I had to consider looking into those feed for my animals right? So I zoomed right into Stella & Chewy's range of freeze-dried food.

Why Stella & Chewy's?

Silversky Pets carries Stella & Chewy's (S&C) range of food that's why. *guffaw*

Stella & Chewy's was also the top-rated food on CLP at that time.

But most importantly, should I consider switching my brood away from Wellness Pet Food which also means goodbye sponsorship, I had to see how much damage it was going to cost me. Freeze-dried food is notoriously expensive. So first thing I did was to pull out S&C price list to see what was available in Singapore before visiting S&C's website to see the feeding requirement.

Image taken off Stella & Chewy's website
I burst out laughing when I saw the feeding guidelines. It stopped at 40 lbs body weight! Flapper and Frodo are approx. 70 lbs (31kg) each so erm yeah! I had a suspicion these trendy freeze-dried food are not meant for bigger dogs... financially.

Anywoof, so for calculation sake, I am going to assume a 70 lbs = 40 lbs + 30 lbs of feed = 19 pieces of nuggets per month. Ms Excel, here I come!

A whopping $2,000.00 (SGD) per month for all three dogs excluding the cats. Okay dogs, as much as I love you but 2k is seriously stretching it. I had to have a look at these raw and freeze-dried diet for interest sake. It is such a trend and rave by these holistic experts encouraging raw diet that surely the mama cannot ignore.

I have severe reservations about raw diet with the thoughts choo-choo-ing on proper storage to possible contamination thanks to our lovely humid weather leading to diarrhoea leading to possible Giardia.... So raw freeze dried seems like a safer option though I was sternly warned once to discard the expensive nugget should it drop on the floor.

My interest in freeze-dried diminished as quickly as my interest in the growing raw-feed trend. But I was still fixated on proving to myself that I did not make a dire mistake of Wellness Pet Food. The statistics on CLP, at that point, were not very much in its favour. But, without doubt, Wellness Pet Food still stood highly in terms of its nutritional value based on Dog Food Advisor.

What the fish should I do?

That Moment Of Epiphany

I started lamenting to my trusted advisors about the flak I was receiving over this Wellness lawsuit. I was in self-induced stress mode as well because I felt moral and ethical responsibility towards other dog owners as my boys represent the brand. At that point, I was questioning Silversky Pets on WellPet's response towards the lawsuit.

I've deleted the statement released by WellPet from my phone. Grrrrr.

A press statement is just a statement until proven otherwise. Based on the statement, I was interested in their 'internal lab test' on the safety levels of the food. To date, still nothing to be seen and I guess it is probably a case of silence to let the bad news tide over because surely another pet food company will have a visit from the lawsuit homing pigeon.

Every other pet food company is getting a lawsuit these days.

Anywoof, none of my trusted advisors were deeply surprised it was the fish formulas that were in question for its level of metal contaminants. So we got into discussions about safe consumption of fish and seafood.

In the midst of this lawsuit chat, someone let slip a tale about a dog owner who sent her dog's blood for testing on heavy metal toxicity contents. This dog was on some super healthy home-cooked diet. I cannot remember all the details pertaining to this story so I cannot remember the protein-source or what this home-cooked formula contained.

I was shocked by that story.

Home cooked and it had detrimental levels of heavy metals in its blood? What the....

And that was when that moment of epiphany hit me. If home-cooked food is not spared from heavy metal toxicity then what is the real problem? It is still called humans. I am not saying that pet food company, which are run by humans, are innocent of the growing claims. Pet food, at the end of the day, is a commercial product part of a multi-billion dollars industry. All the 'additional unstated perks' added into any given brand of commercial pet food is expected. That risk, as a pet owner, should be well-recognised and accepted.

IF pet food companies were ethical, there would not be a gazillion of fish and seafood diets available for pets to consume. Pet food companies would take more effort in dissing the myth of cats eat fish. And if pet owners would stop that psychosomatic irrationality of chicken allergy (pay the money and get your dog allergy-tested!), then perhaps fish-based diet would not be that trendy?

Let's get real, if human food can be manipulated, surely pet food would not be any more glorious. And because of human's manipulation, comes the trend of 'organic food' which comes with a hefty price too, no? And yes, if fish-based diet can sell then which business owner would want to sacrifice their pockets?

Then comes the newest report about yet another pet food recall by J.M. Smucker company because of phenobarbital level found in its food. Now that's another thing all together. Phenobarbital. My choice drug for suicide but to be found in food, that's another thing.

What is our world coming to?

Given that one cannot trust any human food in its raw form to be 100% safe for consumption - think added hormones, added God-knows-what-else to fatten up the calf, pesticides etc. etc. - then let's just for a moment take that even IF any given pet food manufacturer is ethical to the tee, what makes one think that the pet will still not be at risk?

Lowered risk, maybe.
100% risk free? I think not.

So thanks to that story about that poor little doggie, it made me realise that there is no such thing as 100% safe food - pet or human food. Just as I am uncertain about the facts based on the lack of available data on Wellness Pet Food mortality rate, I am equally uncertain if WellPet may have compromised the quality of their products at any point of time by tweaking their formulas or change their suppliers because of bottom line. These are things that I will never probably never find out in Flapper's lifetime. Maybe Frodo's too.

But based on what I can evaluate through my brood's health status, if Wellness Pet Food was that lethal, perhaps all five of them should be dead by now? Nine years on Wellness... that should be long enough to be used as evidence, no?

Is It The Dog Food?

Flapper, for the first time in his 11 years of life, started to develop skin problem round about the same time the lawsuit fiasco started. Flapper has always been trouble free when it comes to the skin and being plagued by skin problem after all these years was annoying. Very annoying.

The annoying part was, skin problem can result in long term management and may or may not be resolvable.

Prior to his skin problem, I have glanced through couple of reads about 'protein rotation'. It is said to have health benefits except that the recommended rotation includes changing brand of dog food, switching between different form of feedings (dry, wet, raw, home-cooked... whatever you can think of) and I was like, "Erm yeah, like I will be that hard working". And some say.... switching of brands is good just because one manufacturer's ingredient/additives could generally be the same stuff so the rationale for brand switch is to 'balance it out'.

I have an irrational fear of switching dog food especially since I have never had any known problems with Wellness.

Silversky Pets, being super supportive, agreed to allow the rotation of proteins. No, I was not going to dive into negotiating for Stella & Chewy's or other brands that they carry to be in the mix. I was happily conservative to just switch up the core protein from Wellness.

Ah yes! That meant they went on that oh-so-fatal 'Ocean' formula for three months too.

Sarcasm intended.

Flapper and Frodo with the different Wellness Core food as I embarked on the protein rotation.
Coincidentally, at the time Flapper exploded with the skin problem, the boys had just switched to the Wellness Core Wild Game formula. Of course, I could easily say "It's the food's problem!" but this was not the first time he has been on this Wild Game formula so I was highly doubtful it was the cause. I was certain I knew what the contributing factor for that skin problem explosion - an obscene amount of chlorine in a particular swimming pool.

There was another big factor to consider - Flapper IS old. His immunity will dip which means problems that he never used could 'suddenly appear'.

However, due to the timeline, I was not going to discount that it could be the food as well. So just to be on the safe side, I decided to find a different formula. And since this coincided with the lawsuit, I had a serious decision to make if I should change the boys out of Wellness all together. Even momentarily could save me the agony from the flak I was receiving.

I discussed with Mr D from Silversky Pets and was honest about the sudden skin problem. He was very supportive. He knew my loyalty to Wellness food. It has only been nine years so he knew it wasn't for whimsical fancy that I was contemplating a switch! He told me outright, "I would stick with Wellness".

"Why?", I asked.

"Because it IS the best", he replied.

I laughed. That's what I call confidence. And being After much thoughts and deliberation, I decided to move away from the Core range and 'downgraded' to the Wellness Complete Health Grain Free range instead.

Then it began again.

"Is it food?", I was asked in question to Flapper's skin problem.

"No!", I snapped back.

I was insanely frustrated. It was starting to feel like no-win ever since the lawsuit surfaced. I stared at Flapper and then it hit me. For the many years that my brood, especially Flapper, has been problem free on the food, has anyone ever complimented the food, no. And now, everything is... 'the dog food'.

Like.... SERIOUSLY?

Give Me THAT Elixir Pill For Dogs!

And then a long comes this 'starving cancer' campaign. It was migraine-causing enough with the incessant shares of how dog food kills, feed your dog raw food, dog food causes cancer etc. etc.. And now starving cancer too?

I shook my head on that one.

If cancer was that easily starved, there should be no cancer in humans.

There is this growing feeling that the internet phenomenon on pet-feeding seems to indicate that it has gone beyond nutrition but rather, humans are starting to promote some kind of elixir for dog that these wondrous miracle feeds will give dogs eternal life.

And what I find even more disturbing is this emphasis on the food but not much (almost nothing) mention to genetics, unethical breeding (still genetics), physical well-being, mental well-being and quality of life.

A dog's well-being is not just about the food. It's the lifestyle too, no?

What I find even more ludicrous is the latest video about being cruel and feeding one's dog with the same food every single day. I have no idea what kind of clinic they run but apparently they do not face the problem with fussy eaters resulting in endless buffet of food. But hang on, they have the miracle cure which means... no animals will ever fall sick again and ever need to visit the vet again. So perhaps veterinarians should consider closing their clinics pronto because there is that miracle elixir pill!

Does that mean that dogs will soon live forever and have to fend for themselves?

Interesting.

A Dog's Life With No Regrets Matters More

Turning 12 in September, it is always gratifying to watch Flapper indulge in his favourite activities and still enjoying his work.

With all that said, I must make it clear that I am not saying that Wellness is the best feed for pets. With months of sitting on this write-up, I had much time to reflect upon whether I am 'killing' my pets by feeding commercial pet food. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out (and accept) that any commercially-produced food - humans and pets alike - bears risk.

Then I sit back at stare at Flapper. Let's be honest about it. Flapper is OLD. He is turning 12 years old in September. By a large dog average life span, he is at the stage of 'outliving' his years. Most of all, he is still able to - indulge in his favourite activities (swim, run, play), enjoy his occasional acting gigs, make silly home videos, serve the elderly, learn new tricks and most recently, perform his last (I think) stint as blood donor.

I gave huge thanks (and still do) to God when his comprehensive blood works in October last year turned out good and of course, for his mobility too. At Flapper's age now, I am not taking a day for granted. Like humans at geriatric stage, health status can turn very rapidly.

And of course, should Flapper or Frodo suddenly develop some health issues - i.e. cancer or kidney failure or... - I am sure the food will accused again.

After much much thoughts and much much staring at the brood, surely if the food was that bad, they would all be sitting as a mantle ornament now. Surely 9 years (Flapper and the two cats), 7 years (Frodo) and 5 years (Pebbles) on the food is long enough to show its detrimental effects. But, *touchwood*, they are all still doing well except for that cockroach and her persistent skin problems.

The cats on their stint on protein rotation too. They have no problem eating whichever flavour presented to them. The cats are trained to eat like the dog. Ha!
Then I wonder to myself - say *touchwood again* something happens to Flapper (or Frodo) tomorrow or in the near future, maybe he gets diagnosed with cancer or kidney failure or heart failure... I don't know... just something. Will I start accusing his food of being the cause of the condition?

I have to honestly say no.

The boys have led a good life. Both of them have done more things and experienced more adventures in this nano-country than I could ever expected out of a large pet dog. I have a carpe diem attitude with the dogs. Of course I do pray for extended time with them but life as life is, things can happen. Maybe I did something right with my brood. Maybe I am blessed. Maybe the food did help. I really cannot answer this.

But for what's it's worth, I know that creating that fulfilling and quality life beat that fussy topic about dog food. It will and always will be about the total lifestyle package and not just one element called THE FOOD.

So yep, knowing that the boys are leading a quality life matters more. My biggest fear when it comes to the boys is 'what if' on the day they kick the bucket.

On this note, I simply want to say a huge thank you to Wellness Pet Food for the nine good years (and still counting!) of feed for my brood of five. I am only but four months late but happy belated 10th birthday to Wellness Singapore!

I made big plans to complete my review of the Sony Xperia XZ1 phone in one post.

Then daddy strolled home with an iPhone 8. That secret geek in me surfaced. I had to do THE camera #LAB-test - iPhone 8 versus Xperia XZ1 burst mode test.

And aye aye!
Spectacular test it was.

You can read all about it including my review of the Autofocus Burst Mode here.

So much for that big plan of a one post review. That's what happens when we #LAB-test products that inspire. 😏

3D Scanning

Boy oh boy!

Have I been dying to get to this topic. XZs tickled my belly on super slow motion and now, XZ1 got my tail wagging on this brand spankin' new 3D scanning.

Sony Mobile, stop teasing this old man already!

Thank God I still have a strong heart.

I have to clarify one thing. 3D imaging is NOT the same as 360° imaging. 'Tis was funny. While I was showing off this cool 3D scanning feature, I got the same response - "OH! Is it that 360-thing?"

So.

To illustrate the difference:
360°
(a #LAB-test that we did quite a while ago)

VS

3D Imaging
(taken with the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact)

Click on Frodo's image above to view.

As mentioned in part 1, even though I was forewarned about the difficulty of 3D scanning on dogs, I boldly took up the challenge. What's life without indulging in challenges? And you can't blame an old dog for loving new gadgets.

Goes without saying, the first function I tested upon receiving my XZ1 was the 3D scanning. I was counting down the days to receiving the phone since Miss J showed me this exciting new function.

The Gist Of Sony Xperia XZ1 3D Creator
  • It comes with its own app called '3D Creator';
  • 4 default scan modes - Face Scan, Head Scan, Food Scan and Freeform Scan;
  • Within each default scan mode, there's a How-To tutorial;
  • MUST COMPLETE practice scan of face scan and head scan before actual usage of 3D scanning;
  • The 3D scans (I think it is the face and head scan) can be used to incorporate into 'AR effect' to create cute animations but not a fan of these AR effects so have not (probably will not) test it;
  • In-built image crop function has limitations at this point i.e. the scan of Frodo, I am unable to crop to his silhouette.
  • Avoid the 'shiny' - this includes shiny bald head (daddy) and spectacles (still daddy). Reflections causes the image to distort. Daddy ended up with crater head. *guffaw* Maybe I should buy a wig for daddy for Christmas.
  • The sensitive light conditions - highly recommended by Sony Mobile to use soft lights. Outdoors with direct sunlight did not work. It did not scan. Indoors - I consistently get 'lighting condition' warning which can be annoying then one just becomes an expert at ignoring it. The scan works anyhow.
  • Phone hangs after a few scans....
  • Must keep still. Very very still. I spent many hours posing for mummy but my eternal love for her (my body and head may be still but my eyes follow her as she circles around me) resulted in unsuccessful scans. One side of the scan will always be good but the other side... Flapper-the-alien.
  • Backing up of files is within the app. Manual back-up will require 'sharing' as a file and you can select where you want to send the file to.
  • DO NOT DELETE before sharing/saving the file! 3D printing can only be executed with the existence of .obj file.
  • Neither Facebook nor Instagram supports 3D images at this point. Need to use external app then share from there.
  • TIP: Spend time testing 3D creator. Recommend to use inanimate objects as test subjects -
    • Get the hang of how each scan works;
    • Get the hang of 'sculpting';
    • Understand what kind of lighting condition works best.
  • TIP: Personal favourite mode of scan: FREEFORM - This allows full body scan and more flexibility in scan directions. More challenging too!
  • TIP: To achieve 3D scan with animals, best when it is sleeping.
With 3D scanning capability added to this little gadget called a mobile phone, it is level up on one's mobile XPERIAnce. At this point, I have yet to send any of my 3D creation out to print but surely one of these days I would!

Gone are the days of just capturing life moments in 2D imagery but just the mere thought of creating little 3D memento tickles my furry belly.

My Favourite 3D Scan - Bromance Moment!

As I got a little more apt with my freeform 3D scanning skills, I decided to challenge myself to capture my bromance moment with Frodo. 3D scanning on one dog is tough enough but two! I think mummy is crazy.

Crazy as crazy is/was, we achieve a successful scan if I may shamelessly say so!

Mastering The Art of Cropping

This, my friends, took me the longest time to master. To be exact, it took me 3 months before I managed a successful crop. To be fair, after my unsuccessful initial attempts at cropping these freeform images, I decided to focus on mastering the art of freeform scanning on the XZ1 first.

One fine day in December, I decided to give cropping another shot and after much fiddling around, I finally managed my very first successful crop! Based on my previous attempts, I had sneaky suspicions Sony Mobile had updated the 3D Creator app and fine-tuned its cropping capability.

Whether it was an update on the app or that sudden spark of ingenuity, I was well pleased that I - Flapper Choo - finally mastered the art of cropping.

Achievement unlocked.

I can go fight the kingpin now.

The Cost Of 3D Model

After my successful attempt with cropping my 3D model, I immediately contacted Sony Mobile to enquire about getting my 3D model printed. I was dying to see how the 3D print would turn out and perhaps own the bragging rights to show-and-tell!

I was promptly recommended to contact MeMoment HK (Hong Kong). And then the nerves set in. What if the printer thinks my 3D scan was rubbish or a bad scan and I should not have it printed? But what the woof! I decided to give it a shot anyway and contacted MeMoment to get a price quote with a brief description of my fridge magnet idea since the back was flat (I was lying against the sofa).
It is almost the best quality scan of pet by Sony Mobile that I have seen so far.
Almost? I will take it anyway. I was delighted that the guy from MeMoment did not tell me my scan was rubbish and it was actually 'almost the best quality scan'. Good job me!

Then came the price shock.

Based on my 3D Scan, colour printing (ONLY) costs:
  • For about 5.5cm long - HKD700 = SGD120 (approx.)
  • For about 10cm long- HKD1500 = SGD250 (approx.)
  • Courier cost - HKD300 = SGD50 (approx.)
So. For a tiny 3D model of 5.5cm long will cost me SGD170 (approx). That is just for the colour 3D printing cost without any customisation whatsoever.

Holy Dog! There goes my show-and-tell model.

To cheer myself up, I went to snoop at MeMoment HK Facebook Page and holy dog again! They do very very VERY impressive 3D print dog models. My paws could not resist but drop them another line to ask how they do it since I cannot even get a successful one of myself sitting still... with only my eyes discreetly following mama.
Those are from our own developed 3D imaging system which has 30+ synchronised cameras taking photos at the same time and then we compute the 3D from the selected set of photo. Using Sony type of hand held scanner is impossible to scan kids or pet well as they are always moving.
Thank you MeMoment for answering my question! I am no 3D scanning expert so this helps my understanding about the limitations with the handheld phone. I wish Frodo and I could fly over to Hong Kong now to get a 3D scan done of us!

Maybe one day when mummy feels generous enough, I may finally get my very own show-and-tell model.

3D Scanning Verdict:
If there's one good reason for getting the Sony Xperia XZ1 phone, it is this 3D scanning feature. Yes. It's got room for improvement - stability of app while scanning and the scan-sensitivity (lighting and reflections) - but it the XZ1 is only but a mobile device! For what we were able to accomplish, 3D Creator is impressive. Very impressive.

Smile Capture (Human smiles only)

For selfie addicts, you may like this function very much. It is quite self-explanatory. Smile (or don't smile), the SZ1 is able to track and capture. I, the dog, do not use it very much but just once in while, when I MUST capture that selfie moment, it comes in very handy.

Or should I say pawdy?

Smile capturing while on a hot Valentine's Day date.
Or when you've had a fantastic day out and you want to capture the moment.
To turn smile capture on:

And smmmiiilllleeee!

An illustration of how the smile shutter smartly recognises the face and there's a smile-o-meter. As the term says - 'Smile Shutter' so it is most sensitive to smiles. The bigger the smile, the better!

Smile Shutter/Capture Verdict
Smile shutter is a snazzy feature to have. However, it can be a little insensitive and unresponsive - some times. Not great with movements or gestures. It is literally a SMILE SHUTTER. Maybe I will give 5-paws when it starts to recognize dog faces/smiles? *guffaw*

Getting Geeky With It

I am not big on looking at the numbers on paper but am more a end-user experience type dog. The numbers are garbles to me. The boasts mean nothing. Use it and prove it, that's what I say.

Before I got my very own Xperia XZ1, Sony Mobile Singapore passed me the XZ1 Compact to play around it aka test the Autofocus Burst function (see part 1 of this review). And because I had the privilege to own the XZs and XZ1 plus test the XZ1 Compact, my whiskers alerted me that maybe I should do a bit of a geeky review.

Just a bit.

The Processor (XZ1 versus XZs)
Both the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 compact has upgraded to Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, which is what Premium is on, whereas XZs is running on 820. Honestly, these are just numbers to me and in terms of actual usage, I do not necessarily feel the significant difference (in terms of speed) between the XZ1 and XZs. Perhaps I am not just not very sensitive to it. I honestly never thought much about phone processors till I started on this Xperia journey.

I must say though, I only experienced the difference while helping Grandpa to transition from his android-phone-that-shalt-not-be-named to the XZs. That was when I truly realized, "Damn! My Xperia phone is fast!"... never mind that brand of phone always boasts of the newest and most impressive specifications at a much cheaper price.

Battery Life
As much as I talk about the importance of a phone's camera capability, I do secretly rate a phone base on its battery life. Both XZ1s are using 2700mAh battery with smart stamina 3.0 while the XZs is using 2900mAh battery with smart stamina. Okay okay, the Premium is using 3230mAh battery with smart stamina.

The numbers still mean nothing to me.

Verdict: Compact wins hands down. Tadah!

Based on GSM Arena battery life test, Compact came in top of the four phones - XZs, XZ1, XZ1 Compact and XZ Premium. I do not have and have not tested the Premium so I cannot comment on that. But I did find that the Compact's battery life was impressive during my two weeks stint with it. There was once I left it in cold storage for about 3 days and was surprised to see that it had about 60-ish percent of battery remaining. No mobile data usage but Wi-Fi was kept on with 'daily backup on WiFi activated'. I was pretty darn shock because the battery of the XZs depleted 25% of its battery overnight while I was sleeping (approximately 6-7 hours). Maybe I had a lot of background crap running on the XZs....

Anywoof, the battery life does seem to last longer on the Compact even with the heavy use of the camera (photos and videos) for an hour - approximately 20% of the battery life.

I got pretty spoiled by the battery life of the Compact so I THOUGHT the XZ1 should be just as good, if not better.

Nope! I was wrong.

Two days into owning the XZ1 and I could not decide if the battery life is better, worse or same with the XZs. I have yet to test both phones on similar capacity though it may be tilted now because the XZs is about six months older.

Conclusively, anyone looking for a compact phone (think iPhone 5) with Sony Xperia's full boast-worthy camera functions and good battery life, the Compact is the way to go.

But if you need reading glasses like a particular mummy......

Design, Size and Price

XZ1 vs XZs - The XZ1 is that teeny bit slicker, teeny bit rounder, teeny bit lighter, teeny bit bigger yet that teeny bit slimmer compared to the XZs. It is also that teeny bit more slippery to hold. Aye aye. On the first day of owning the XZ1, I could hear mummy screaming, "Flapper! Save the phone!". Three times. Fortunately with my lightning response and catch skills, I saved the phone from crashing to the ground.

Sony Mobile is proud of their design consistency which also means that if anyone is looking to be thrilled by some groundbreaking revolutionary new Xperia design, it ain't gonna happen any time soon, I think.

Both the XZs and XZ1 pretty much looks the same but it does have slight different in paw feel. This is something one has to test/try. I cannot woof it into words.

In the spirit of being a geek (a bit), I decided to pull together an illustrative comparative chart to layout the basic specifications of the XZ1 versus XZ1 Compact versus versus XZS to get a dog's eye view of what the phones are really about.

Do I get a paw-5 for creating this fabulous chart?
*For latest prices and promotions in Singapore, please refer to Sony Mobile Singapore's Microsite OR Lazada SG. I am sure that the price for the XZs, being the predecessor to the XZ1, would have dropped by now. Alternatively, do check your mobile service provider on their prices.

In A Nutshell....

For one tiny device called a mobile phone, the camera technology is amazing, it has been quite problem-free and the ease of use is a huge plus. The Sony XPERIAnce has been spectacular so far. I truly love my phone.
The Xperia XZ1, at first snoop, was nothing to rave about - so the online reviews said. The main reason for its lacklustre prelaunch reviews was that specifications wise, the key difference from the XZs was its processor but that also meant it was on par with the XZ Premium.

The newbie to XZ1 was 3D Creator, Autofocus Burst Capture and Smile Shutter which has now been added to the XZ Premium as well.

The XZ1 also boasts of improved sound quality and during their launch demo, the difference between the XZs and XZ1 was audible. This is great for anyone who listens to music while on the go or loves watching shows on their mobile device.

Sony Mobile Singapore's presentation of the highly-impressive layers of the Xperia XZ1.
Five months on since I started on the Xperia XZ1, I must honestly say that the so-called nothing-to-rave upgrades did enhance my end user experience. Sony Mobile has overcome the overheating issue and to date, I have yet to experience any problems in that department.

Eleven months since I ditched my iPhone for the Xperia, I have not (believe it or not) missed my former phone one bit! I have truly enjoyed my Sony XPERIAnce thus far and have come to truly respect the technology that goes behind it.

A great phone, it is.

As I am finishing off this final part of my Xperia XZ1 review, I spied that Sony Mobile will be releasing the XZ2 and XZ2 Pro? 😲

This has brought on classical conditioning response of drooling.

Have I really become a bit of a dog-geek?

Anywoof,  I have no idea if I will get the privilege to continue my run but it has been such a pleasure and honour to go on this Sony XPERIAnce and capturing many of my life moments since March 2017 with the Xperia XZs and XZ1... predictively, autofocus-ly, low light-ly, underwater-ly, and super slow motion-ly.

And what can I say?

I have truly fallen in love with the Xperia phone!
